What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis (marijuana). While CBD is a component of cannabis (one of hundreds), it does not cause 'high'.
According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

How Does CBD Work?
Cannabidiol (CBD) was discovered in 1940 and is the most abundant of the 113 cannabinoids identified in hemp plants, accounting for up to 40% of the plant's extract. CBD can be taken into the body in a number of ways, including orally and topically. It interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS) which contains millions of cannabinoid receptors, mostly clustered around your brain and central nervous system.
Research continues into the ECS but, to date, it has been shown to regulate stress, mood, pain and sleep, amongst other things.
Just as Nature Intended
CBD is a plant-based cannabinoid (a phytocannabinoid), but your body also produces cannabinoids naturally, known as endocannabinoids. Most organs in your body, including your skin, contain cannabinoid receptors. The two primary receptors that have been identified are the CB1 and CB2 receptors, which are expressed predominantly in the brain and immune system respectively although are also found in peripheral organs.
By taking plant based cannabinoids, such as CBD, we support our ECS which itself is important for our overall health and wellness.
